From Wednesday, February 18 to Thursday, April 30, the original 1965 "Jungle Emperor" series were again aired in Japan on Cartoon Network Japan, 1 episode every day from Sunday to Thursday at 12:00 AM.

On Monday, March 30 the 1997 "Jungle Emperor Leo" movie was aired in Japan at 9:00 AM on the NHK BS2 channel.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Fuji Television's launch, and the 80th anniversary of Osamu Tezuka's birth, a new remake of the "Jungle Emperor" anime titled "Jungle Emperor - Leo's Courage Changes the Future" was broadcasted on Fuji Television on Saturday, September 5, 2009. The movie is directed by Goro Tanibuchi ("Code Geass"), and it is written by Osamu Susuki, while the music is composed by Takefumi Haketa ("Vampire Knight"). Also, one of the character designers is Yoshitaka Amano, known for artwork in "Final Fantasy" series of games.
This remake can be called a "21st century Kimba", as it is set in year 20XX, where "humans are at a complete loss what to do with continual environmental destruction; to protect nature being destroyed and to save animals being extinguished, the project to make an artificial jungle (called Neo-Jungle) is launched".
Prior to the broadcasting of the movie, 2 special T-shirts (probably limited edition) were on sale at the Fuji TV webshop, and 1 additional was sold on Graniph website.
From the
official website you could download a PDF with a coloring page with a scene from the movie, but three other gadgets (a jigsaw puzzle game, a sliding puzzle game and a desktop digital clock with characters from the movie) are still available.
In 2010 CD with the movie soundtrack has been released (you can find it on the CD releases page), as well as the DVD with the movie (released in both standard and special edition; both can be found on the Japanese releases page).

"Kimba the white lion" TV series were shown in Indonesia on ANTV from December 2009 to January 2010, every day at 7:30 AM, 1 episode a day. The airing started approximately at December 9 and ended on January 27, 2010.
